Philosophy
To communicate, listen and understand the individual requirements of each horse during their education and to work with each horse's physical and mental capabilities. The horse's wellbeing is a priority to develop his understanding of what is being asked of him so communication between horse and handler/rider are clear.
Our philosophy and training techniques have proven successful with recognised achievements in Dressage, Showing, Showjumping, Show Hunter, and Inhand classes producing horses from conception to performance.
From the beginning to winning the following services are available to you:- Schooling, hacking out and being started under saddle. Whether your horse is a super star, a life time companion or a pleasure horse we can set a programme to suit your requirements and your horse’s capabilities. Arena work is available to further your horse’s education or to help you solve a problem, including good flat work training with dressage skills or jump training.
We can also offer your horse the pleasurable experience of being hacked out of farmland or maybe you are unsure of how your horse is going to react to different objects and encounters while being hacked out and you would like us to do this for you first.
Grazing & Agistment
• We offer grazing for horses including;
• Winter turn out
• Spelling
• Holiday care for your horse
• A base for your competition horses while you are competing in this region
• Injury Rehabilitation
Foal weaning and nursery education
Foals are weaned in a secure and safe environment being stabled with their dams next door to them for the first few days and then mares are gradually taken away from foals and replaced with another companion for the foal to make the weaning process as stress free as possible for the foal and mare.
Or if owners prefer foals can be left with us and dams can be taken home straight away.
Foals are lightly handled each day and once they have settled and are accepting of human contact foals are introduced to their nursery education which includes all or some of the following:
• Halter training
• Taught to lead
• Introduced to a cover
• Tying up
• Float or truck training
• Washing
• Hoof work
• Riding

CRESTWOOD………………OWNED BY ROBERT GAIRRobin and Leigh have done a fantastic job on my young horse Crestwood. Robin did a brilliant job schooling him and sorting out some behavioral problems that he had and Leigh sorted out all his floating and traveling issues. We regularly go to Larkspur for schooling and training sessions and to use their excellent facilities. Thanks to the Larkspur team me and Woody are going from strength to strength and moving up through the competition grades.
